Mellie Meteors came to Berlin during the pandemic, trying to survive the lockdowns by playing street music full time. This turned out to be a killer move! Since then he has gathered a cult-following with his street shows, played at Fusion and Pangea festival and was named as a favourite busker by Ex-Berliner Magazine. Chasing in Alice Phoebe Lou’s footsteps — for whom he also opened a set! — he is now taking things to the next step with a first full band show, consisting of some of Berlin’s street scene’s hottest local legends like DeanisHome, Funky Nilo, The Pinch and Sugar Danny.
This show is also the official release show of his first studio record, Sometimes I’m Looking For Trouble, that was recorded in the legendary Funkhaus studios after being spotted on the street by one of its main sound engineers, Jonny Zoum, who worked for names like Billie Eilish, Leonard Cohen and Alicia Keys.
This time with a full band to back the songs, his music is often characterized by an impressive vocal reach with strong falsettos, ranging between indie, electro, reggae and rock. Sometimes carefree, sometimes melancholic, but always conveying a glimmer of hope. Expect to bounce to the bass and swing on synths, shed a fragile tear but end on good laughs and cheers and beers!
Opening the night is Vyka! A Berlin based Ukrainian singer, songwriter and producer.
Vyka’s musical language is distinguished by dreamy melodics, retro beats and lush synths. Her eponymous six track EP was released this year and delivers dashes of dream pop, synth wave and piano balladry, tied together with hints of social problematics. Picked up by InitiativeMusik, the EP also got impressive radio support – interviews and live performances by Radio Eins and FluxFm as well as by Deutschlandfunk Nova and NDR Berlin.
Starting her musical journey began in musical theaters, a production of the show “THE WYLD” brought her to Berlin to sing in theater Friedrichstadtpalast in 2014. Two years later she took part in the Voice of Germany. These experiences encouraged Vyka to pursue a long-held desire to write and produce her own music. She now produces her tracks as a DIY musician in her home studio, arranging with her friends, Berliners from all corners of the world.
Proven to be stellar on stage, she and her three-piece band have been known to put on a grand diva performance and are guaranteed to warm up the stage very hot and toasty!
