„In Heaven“ heißt das neue und bereits achte Studioalbum von Strand of Oaks, welches am 1. Oktober 2021 veröffentlicht werden wird. Tim Showalter, wie Strand of Oaks mit amtlichen Namen heißt, reflektiert darin über ganz grundsätzliche Themen wie Liebe, Verlust und Erleuchtung. Er verarbeitet eigene Trauer in tiefgründigen Songs, die aber getränkt sind von Hoffnung, Freude und neu gefundener Stärke.

„’In Heaven’ was created with so much love and my greatest hope is that it connects with people and provides a momentary space for reflection, joy, catharsis and whatever else someone might be looking for in their life. Music is magic and I feel like the luckiest person in the world that I’m allowed to share it.” (Strand of Oaks).
Das Album wurde im Oktober 2020 in Los Angeles aufgenommen, mit einer großartigen Bandbesetzung: zusätzlich zu Tim Showalter an Gitarren/Gesang und Kevin Ratterman am Schlagzeug sind zu hören Carl Broemel und Bo Koster von My Morning Jacket (Gitarre und Keyboards) sowie Cedric LeMoyne (Alanis Morrissette, Remy Zero) am Bass und Scott Moore an der Violine, dazu als Special Guest auf dem Song „Easter“ noch James Iha (The Smashing Pumpkins). „In Heaven“ ist der Nachfolger des 2019 erschienenen Albums „Eraserland“, das nicht nur von NPR Music zu einem der Top-Alben des Jahres gekürt wurde. Auch Pitchfork kommentierte damals: “The result is a cosmic tour-de-force, soars in both its booming and hushed moments, a testament to the skills of this lockstep outfit. These seasoned players navigate Showalter’s emotional cosmos with equal parts professionalism and empathy.”
