The Free Label is a six-member band from Toronto, Canada, blending 70s disco, 90s R&B, and high-energy funk into an electrifying, dance-driven experience. Their 2019 single „All Night“ led to international tours across Europe, North America, and Australia, gaining a loyal following. They’ve played major Canadian festivals, including Mariposa Folk Festival and the Calgary Stampede, and opened for T-Pain, Aqua, and Lupe Fiasco. The band has also toured the U.S., opening for various artists and performing at universities across the country. In 2024, Songs for Sienna, their highly anticipated album, earned them a spot on the Amazon Music Billboard in Dundas Square, Toronto. Tracks like „Crimes of Passion“ have gained global attention. With over 15 million views of their live performances in the last year, The Free Label’s energetic shows and natural chemistry continue to captivate audiences worldwide.
According to music journalist Mona Lina, A&R at [PIAS] Maura is „one of the most intriguing underdogs in the German music scene (…) with a stage presence that packs a punch“. Seamlessly navigating between dreamy jazz vocals, indie soul, and rap, Maura, unveiled her debut LP „Grimus“. Now she released her “Mother Of Chaos” record on Phlegmatic Records and gained attention on german major radio stations as Radio Eins, Cosmo Radio and Deutschlandfunk Kultur and played a record release show at the HHV Store in Berlin, Europes biggest vinyl shop.
In her live shows, Maura performs for many years with her band, delivering a captivating performance that has graced stages at the Ruhrtriennale, Popkultur Festival Berlin, Bavarian Jazzweekend, and renowned clubs such as Connie Island, Cassiopeia, and Festsaal Kreuzberg. She played several times Warm Up for US Hip Hop icons as Illa J and Sa Roc.
With her latest release Maura is eager to showcase to a wider audience, why she is rightfully recognized as one of the „most charismatic leadsingers that Germany has to offer“ (-Sichtexot).
Maura’s journey in music defies the typical trajectory of jazz and soul singers. Coming from a polish working class family, she hadn’t any formal musical education or vocal training. In a young age she discovered her path in music through the realm of US and UK underground rap and learned about jazz, soul, pop und experimental music through intense listening. Her story reflects an unyielding passion for her craft.
