The Grogans
Support: Betty Taylor

Genre: Indie

Genre-fluid outfit The Grogans are one of Australia’s hardest working young bands. Forming in 2016 whilst in high school, the Melbourne/Naarm trio haven’t stopped since, releasing 3 EPs ‘Cacteyed’, ‘Twangs n Cans’ and ‘Grogan Grove’, and 4 albums in ‘Just What You Want’, ‘Day To Day’, ‘Which Way Is Out’ and most recently ‚Find Me A Cloud‘. Each release has seen the genre-hopping trio showcase their musical ability, touching on blues, surf and garage rock as well as manoeuvres in punk and psych.

The Grogans have supported an array of Australian & international acts including Ocean Alley, WAVVES (US), Hockey Dad and The Chats as well as sharing festival line-ups with Franz Ferdinand, Los Bitchos and The Teskey Brothers.

The band have completed a plethora of AUS/NZ and UK/EU tours which have included sell out shows all over the world as well as appearances at national and international festivals including Your & Owls (NSW), Wanderer Festival (NSW), NYE on the Hill (VIC), Dauwpop Festival (NL), London Calling (NL), Beast Of A Feast (NZ), NinchFest (VIC) among others.

Betty Taylor is the friend who holds your hand after your heart’s been broken. The band is made up of Sophie Patrick, whose indie hooks and sincere and often tongue in cheek lyrics are complemented by Kayla Smart (AKA Dorah Jacson)’s beautiful harmonies and wistful guitar riffs. Helping to strike this perfect balance between power and charm are Claire Chittick on bass and Katie Ishaque on drums.

From an open mic to a backyard party show 2 years ago, Betty Taylor has quickly become Australia’s newfound indie companions. In late 2022, they signed with development label Hello Gardener, and their debut single ‚Stallin‘, produced by one of Australia’s most exciting engineers Aidan Hogg (known for G Flip, Jaguar Jonze, Hope D), premiered on triple J. It has already accumulated over 350,000 streams.

In the midst of 2023, Betty Taylor took a significant step forward by joining the revered global agency WME. Their endearing live show presence has graced stages alongside acclaimed acts such as girl in red, Beddy Rays, Teenage Dads, Matt Corby, Boy and Bear and Asha Jeffries. They’ve also left their mark on memorable festivals, with a recent standout performance at Groovin the Moo.

Betty Taylor’s success has been marked by a series of impactful singles. Their second single, ‚Glitter‘, garnered notable recognition, being featured on prominent platforms such as Good Nights on Triple J, Home & Hosed, and Best New Music with Richard Kingsmill. Its immediate addition to playlists upon release underscored its impact. The band saw a huge growth as they appeared on the ‚Australian Made‘ Hot Nights/Abbie Chatfield program, reaching an enormous national audience through both the radio and online channels.

Their subsequent single, ‚Can’t Get Enough‘, stands as a testament to their evolving sound and collaborative spirit. A writing collaboration with Aidan Hogg, the song was added immediately to triple J and has been top ten most played at the station and huge pickup from playlists globally.

Latest single ‘Young Dumb Immature’ saw the band receive ATB and top 10 most played airplay on triple J alongside major Spotify international and National editorial playlists such as – Fresh Finds, Indie Arrivals, Indie Pop, New Music Friday and a cover for Local Noise

Looking ahead, Betty Taylor has a wild number of national and international tours both headline and support in UK, Europe, Ireland and USA, back to back releases and the calendar of a band setting up to be a monumental global name.
