Though he grew up in the generally frozen landscape of Troy, New York, Sean Rowe spent many of his formative summers in DeLand, Florida where his father was a residential caretaker at a home for troubled youths. It was there, in a mercifully air-conditioned, mostly unused building filled with donated musical instruments, where he taught himself to play drums and then bass. Sean credits those early experiences for what has evolved into his distinctly low and percussive approach to guitar playing

During those same years, when he wasn’t listening to heavy metal or building his early musical chops, Sean was in the woods exploring, foraging, and obsessively learning all that he could about the natural world around him. Since then, his fascination with the subject has only grown and through his web-series, Can I Eat This?, he’s found a means of indulging two of his great passions: music and nature. In each of the forthcoming episodes, Sean will guide a fellow musician on a foraging mission for all manner of wild foods. The two will use their harvest to prepare some tasty creations and end their adventure by performing a cover song together.

Over the course of his career, Sean Rowe has recorded five full-length albums and several EPs. His music has been used widely throughout film and television, with notable examples including NBC’s hit dramas The Blacklist and Parenthood. Rowe’s song “To Leave Something Behind” was one of two non-score tracks to be featured in Ben Affleck’s hit 2016 feature film, The Accountant. Off Lights is a brand new rock outfit from Berlin that combines anthemic Soundscapes with instantly infectious and catchy melodies. The band consists of experienced songwriters who came together during the pandemic to create a project with with its feet solidly plantet on the ground, but with a sound undoubtly international.

Blaudzun ist das Pseudonym des niederländischen Singer-Songwriters und Produzenten Johannes Sigmond (1974). Seine Musik zeichnet sich durch eine vielseitige Mischung aus Indie-Rock und -Pop, poetischen Texten und seiner unverwechselbaren Stimme aus. Im Jahr 2022 erschien sein hochgelobtes sechstes Album LONELY CITY EXIT WOUNDS, dessen zahlreiche überschwängliche Kritiken das Album unter anderem als sein bis heute bestes Werk einordnen.

Seit der Veröffentlichung seines Albums Seadrift Soundmachine im Jahr 2010 haben Blaudzun und seine Band mit Live-Shows in unzähligen Clubs und auf Festivals in ganz Europa einen bleibenden Eindruck hinterlassen. Für das Album Heavy Flowers (2012) erhielt er seine erste Goldene Schallplatte in den Niederlanden. Es folgten ausgiebige ausverkaufte Clubtouren in den Niederlanden, Belgien und Deutschland. Blaudzun trat in Europa und den USA auf Festivals wie dem Southside, Hurricane, CMJ, SXSW, Pinkpop, Pukkelpop, Rock Werchter und Lowlands auf. „Es ist Zeit für mehr Ecken und Kanten…“ heißt es von den Dortmunder Zwillingen Finn & Jonas, die ihr musikalisches Projekt nun kürzlich noch einmal ganz neu aufgestellt haben. „Inzwischen sind wir einfach mehr als nur Finn & Jonas. Zu uns gehört eine Band!“ Und genau diese Band namens BRUCHBUDE wird Anfang kommenden Jahres quer durch Deutschland touren. Authentischer, rauer Indie-Pop mit lauten E-Gitarren und mitreißenden Melodien. Finn und Jonas sind weiterhin die Frontsänger, Luis Melo übernimmt den Bass, der Urban-Künstler Yuto spielt Piano – so hat sich die Formation bereits auf ihrer ersten eigenen Tour in 2023 bewährt.

Die „BRUCHBUDE“ hat für die vier Musiker schon lange eine große Bedeutung: es ist die Gartenlaube, die in ein eigenes kleines Tonstudio verwandelt wurde und der Start für die gemeinsame Leidenschaft und viele Erinnerungen sein sollte. Amber Run – comprising of frontman/guitarist Joe Keogh, bassist Tomas Sperring and keyboard player Henry Wyeth – have managed not just to continue but to thrive on their own terms through making music together.

They released their debut album ‘5AM’ in 2014 via RCA, where they built lasting relationships with a fanbase who had found relatability in their deeply moving songwriting. On their second & third LPs, ‘For A Moment, I Was Lost’ and ‘Philophobia’, the band continued building their fanbase organically, inviting open dialogues with songs that often cut to the quick of life’s more difficult moments. 2023 album How To Be Human, was released on TRIPEL Records, with an extensive tour across the UK and Europe including dates at the beautiful KOKO in London and Paradiso in Amsterdam.

Throughout all of this, their early 2014 single ‘I Found,’ has taken on a life of its own; currently sitting at over half a billion streams, it’s been adopted by a new generation of fans on TikTok where more than 500,000 people have created videos inspired by the track.

Amber Run return in 2025 to celebrate the ten year anniversary of ‘5AM’ with a series of exclusive UK and European shows where they’ll perform their debut album in full.

Nach einem Jahr meldet sich Mathea mit ihrer Singe „Treibsand“ wieder zurück. Zwei Wochen später folgt ein „Life Update“. Mit dem Jahreswechsel läutet Mathea eine neue Ära ein!

Nachdem es 2024 etwas ruhiger um die Sängerin war, startet sie mit voller Power in das Jahr 2025. Neben mehr Musik, spielt Mathea zwei Live Shows im Frühjahr. Um ihren Fans ein „Life Update“ zu geben, veranstaltet Mathea in ihrer Wahlheimat Berlin am 22.04.2025 und einmal in ihrer Heimat Österreich in Wien am 17.04.2025 jeweils eine Show.

Im Gepäck hat sie große Wiedersehensfreude, ein bisschen Herzschmerz und eine Menge Girls Talk. Vor allem sollen die zwei Shows aber dafür da sein, um sich wiederzusehen, zu tanzen und in Matheas Welt abzutauchen.

Hinter den lockeren Auftritten von Elephant steckt harte Arbeit. Nach dem bejubelten Durchbruchsalbum Big Thing (2022) begeistert die Indie-Band aus Rotterdam mit dem Nachfolger Shooting for the Moon, auf dem sie ihrem eigenen Sarkasmus mit unwiderstehlichen Gitarrenmelodien, standhafter Nonchalance und Texten, die die Schönheit des Alltäglichen feiern, begegnen. Die Sommersonne scheint ihnen voll ins Gesicht und das ist ok, denn für Elephant geht nichts über Gelassenheit und Optimismus.

Die ausverkaufte Clubtour, die Radiopräsenz und der Titel ‘Much-Promising-Talent’ das von der Tageszeitung ‘De Volkskrant’, sowie den Radiosendern 3voor12 und 3FM vergeben wurde, zeigen, dass die Dinge gut laufen für Elephant. Shooting for the Moon ist daher ein hoffnungsvolles Album, für das die Band die Hilfe der flämischen Singer-Songwriterin Meskerem Mees und des Produzenten Pablo van de Poel (DeWolff) in Anspruch nahm, sich dabei jedoch hauptsächlich auf ihre eigene magische Viererkombination stützte. Lange Zeit waren sie alle vier vor allem Sidemen in den Projekten anderer, jetzt hatten sie plötzlich den ganzen Spielplatz für sich.

Nachdem Big Thing in einer Zeit voller pandemischer Unsicherheit entstanden war, strahlt das zweite Album Befreiung und Gelassenheit aus. „Die Sonne scheint mir ins Gesicht. Es ist schon so lange her, dass ich etwas so Reales gefühlt habe wie jetzt“, heißt es in ‚Enemy‘. Nicht der Regen, sondern der blaue Himmel. Nicht die Nacht, sondern der Morgen. Hier spricht eine Gruppe Gleichgestimmter, die um jeden Preis etwas Schönes schaffen möchte – mit den Samthandschuhen von Andy Shauf, der schüchternen Haltung von Teenage Fanclub und The Feelies und der heimeligen Wärme von Wilco.

Nicht, dass der Sarkasmus, den Elephant vor Beginn jeder Probe versucht zu verbannen, völlig verschwunden wäre. Beim Eröffnungsstück fährt die Band sogar ganz kurz aus der Haut: „I hate your post-punk pretensions, your fake English accent“, seufzen sie. Seid beruhigt, Post-Punk-Liebhaber. Hier geht es nicht um eine Abneigung gegen das Genre, sondern um die Unsicherheit und Selbstverwirklichung einer ehrgeizigen Band im Aufschwung, einer Band, die nach dem Mond strebt, gefährlich nahe an der Sonne fliegt und genau weiß, wie fabelhaft das klingt.

Die britische Newcomer-Band kommt erstmalig als Headliner nach Deutschland

Um die Herkunft von Luvcat ranken sich viele Mythen. Glaubt man dem BBC-Radio 1, wuchs sie im Nordwesten Englands auf, bevor sie im Alter von 16 Jahren von zuhause wegrannte, um Teil eines Pariser Zirkus zu werden. Andere Medien erzählen von einer spontanen Support-Tour mit den Waterboys, nachdem man Luvcat beim Musizieren in den Straßen Liverpools entdeckte. Während unklar ist, welche Theorie die wahre ist, begeistert die Musikerin mit ihrer Band als geheimnisvolle Kunstfigur seit 2023 die britische Musikwelt. Inspiriert von Musikern wie Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave und The Cure, interessierte sich Luvcat früh auch für Kabarett, Glamour, Tanz und Ästhetiken der Pariser Dekadenz, die allesamt Einfluss auf ihre theatralische Musik und Performance haben. Nach ersten Auftritten im Jahr 2023, änderte sich durch ein 15-Sekunden-Video auf TikTok zunächst alles. Das Video – ein Schnipsel ihres Songs „Matador“ – ging viral und machte sie mit dem Release ihrer Debüt-Single am 31. Mai 2024 schnell weltweit bekannt. Bereits eine Woche nach dem Release sangen Menschen den Song im Publikum mit und stellten die Weichen für Luvcats erste Headline-Show, die im Juli 2024 im Paper Dress Vintage in London stattfand. Nach weiteren Shows in England, erschien am 13. September der Baroque-Pop beeinflusste Ballade „He’s My Man“ als zweite Single von Luvcat. Anschließend tourte die Band als Support für The Last Dinner Party in Europa und konnte mit ihrer zweiten Single den Erfolg ihres Debüts einholen. Ende Oktober folgte die dritte Single „Dinner @ Brasserie Zédel“. Der Song überzeugt mit träumerischen Vocals und theatralischem Instrumental von einer musikalischen Vielseitigkeit, die sich auch auf TikTok-Videos von unveröffentlichtem Material bereits erkennen lässt. So warten Fans bereits auf die nächsten großen Hits wie das noch unveröffentlichte „Love And Money“ und sind längst Teil des Phänomens um Luvcat geworden. Im April 2025 kommt Luvcat auf ihrer EU Tour ‘25 für ihre ersten Headline-Shows nach Deutschland zurück, um von ihrem einzigartig romantischen Sound zu überzeugen.

Die große Frage ist natürlich, ob eine Band mit der Geschichte von DI-RECT noch einer Vorstellung bedarf. Nach 23 Jahren kann man davon ausgehen, dass man die Haager Rocker irgendwie kennengelernt hat.

Eine Diskografie, die man bewundern kann, und eine Erfolgsbilanz in Sachen Shows, von der man als Enthusiast nur beeindruckt sein kann. Mit dem jüngsten Tüpfelchen auf dem i: unsere eigenen Shows im restlos ausverkauften Ahoy. Ganz zu schweigen von den Touren und Shows auf unzähligen Festivals und Veranstaltungen. Kurz gesagt, Sie können DI-RECT nicht ignorieren.

Die besondere Zeit der Lockdowns hat die gegenseitigen Bindungen innerhalb von DI-RECT, wenn möglich, noch mehr gestärkt. Aus den Freunden wurde eine Familie und das ohnehin schon grenzenlose Vertrauen zueinander wächst weiter. Was zu neuer Musik führt. Mit noch mehr Musikalität zusätzlich zum bekannten Input von Marcel Veenendaal, Spike van Zoest, Bas van Wageningen, Jamie Westland und Paul Jan Bakker. Danke zum Beispiel an Keyboarder Matteo Iannella, aber auch an die mittlerweile bekannte Bläsersektion, die das musikalische Bild abrundet. Dass neue Musik geschätzt wird. Und tatsächlich ist das eine Untertreibung. Soldier On wurde zu einer Säule im jüngsten Repertoire der Band und das wunderschöne Wild Hearts-Album wurde in kürzester Zeit mit Gold ausgezeichnet. „Through The Looking Glass“ war 2022 das meistgespielte Lied im niederländischen Radio, ebenso wie der Nachfolger „90’s Kid“, ein Musical Volltreffer. Mit diesen neuen Mitteln im Gepäck war es für DI-RECT ein turbulenter Festivalsommer. Von Paaspop bis Concert at SEA und von Parkpop bis Zwarte Cross war für die Band jedes Wochenende alles dabei.

Ohne Beweise und mit einer gesunden Portion Lässigkeit blickt DI-RECT in die Zukunft. Nach einigen vollgepackten Sommern voller wunderschöner Festivals werden wir im Dezember bald unsere eigene dritte Show im Ahoy haben. Weil Traditionen dazu da sind, geehrt zu werden, und dieses Mal mit niemand geringerem als dem Residentie Orchestra als besonderem Gast. Mit dem man im Februar als ultimatives Warm-Up eine ausverkaufte Tour genießen kann.

Darüber hinaus können wir auch im Jahr 2023 neue Musik von der Band erwarten. Mit „How My Heart Was Won“ als erstem Erfolg im Januar. Anschließend werden die Männer auf einer Tournee und einem Auftritt auf der berühmten Pinkpop-Hauptbühne am Sonntag, dem 18. Juni, auf einen neuen Sommer voller wunderbarer Festivals hinarbeiten. Da im Jahr 2025 das 25-jährige Jubiläum auf der Agenda steht, können wir nur noch mehr Großartiges erwarten. Von den Männern aus der Hofstad, die immer Jungs bleiben werden.

Zwischen Großstadtmelancholie und Übermut, Introspektive und undankbarer Abrechnung, dem Blick für die kleinen und großen Emotionen, schafft der Newcomer Tape Head mit seiner kraftvollen Stimme komplexe Gedanken auf das Nötigste herunterzubrechen: Das Gefühl. Nach den aus dem Nichts begeisternden Support- Shows für Goldroger und Blumengarten Anfang 2024 bleibt vor allem seine unermüdliche Bühnenpräsenz mit Überraschungsfaktor, die er mit seinem Produzenten Noni teilt.

With her third Gondwana album, ‘Constellation’, Manchester’s Caoilfhionn Rose has come of age as an artist, digging deep to find experimental new ways of expressing her wonder at nature’s beauty, her love of music in all its diversity, and her belief in the restorative powers that both afford in the troubled post-COVID world.

Vigorous, searching and ever-curious, Caoilfhionn (say ‘Keelin’) has found a voice at once ancient and modern, intrepidly exploring contemporary technology to transform traditional songcraft for the mid-2020’s.

The ten tracks on ‘Constellation’ feel rooted in a knowledge of folk, jazz and all the twentieth century’s classic tunesmiths, and yet they seem to create a magical, otherworldly space of her own imagining, blending Caoilfhionn’s core piano with synths, and pitting a live rhythm section and saxophone embellishments against ambient samples and future-facing production techniques.

Confident, exploratory and often jaw-droppingly sublime, this incredible album properly announces Caoilfhionn Rose’s arrival as a fresh creative force for 2024.

Caoilfhionn has always pursued music with a fierce commitment. When a period of illness in her late teens caused a delay in starting a Music degree at Newcastle University she used the time constructively. She took a diploma in Music Production and Audio Engineering at Manchester MIDI School (Now School of Electronic Music), which leant heavily towards electronic music, imbuing her with a progressive outlook towards sound manipulation. “It was the best decision,” she says, “because I got to learn how to use Logic, from the very basics into exploration, and some live sound recording as well. It was a course for DJ’s really, but I started to try melding electronics with my background in more folky, traditional stuff.”
Studying music at university in Newcastle, she’d mess around making sound experiments and field recordings, posting tracks online under the alias Audrey Daydreamer, and eventually an EP, under her own name on Soundcloud and Bandcamp. That was how I got involved with Gondwana,” she explains, “because Matthew [Halsall, label boss] found the EP, and realised I was now based in Didsbury near where he lives. He came to see me play at a café called The Art of Tea, and afterwards he asked if I’d like to record for Gondwana.”

‘Constellation’ features contributions from Matthew Halsall’s rhythm section, drummer Alan Taylor and bassist Gavin Barras, as well as Jordan Smart from Mammal Hands, whose supple sax exquisitely colours the fringes of most of its songs. Also guesting: John Ellis, former member of The Cinematic Orchestra, beatifically tinkling the ivories at the end of ‘Fall Into Place’, and producer Aaron Wood via a raft of ambient samples adding textured loveliness throughout ‘Rainfall’.

“I love being open to collaboration,” Rose enthuses, “and the record’s a collage, knitting together all these influences, sounds and players, and just really going for it with the experimentation in the production.”

For this outing, Rose herself returned to her first instrument, the piano, weaving numerous catchy melodies through the mix. Again, loathing to see time wasted, she deployed some dead weeks of COVID lockdown isolation on a Masters degree at the Royal Northern College of Music, much of it obviously carried out online.

Constellation’ sees her broaden the range of her singing, from the pure natural expression of her earlier records, to using it more as an instrument, sometimes more as abstract sound than as conventional verbal delivery. “It’s all playful and experimental,” she summarizes, “seeing what we could come up with that’s imaginative.” And she has learnt to use “her artistic license just to let the words be as they are”, to write in a momentary, impressionistic, almost painterly way. One example was how the word ‘constellation’ just fell into her head – “like, out of the cosmos” – while recording that song, so in it went. It also seemed emblematic of many aspects of the album – the theme of connectedness, her little cluster of Gondwana family musicians, and a pervasive feel of stargazing awe in the music. It obviously made a fitting album title, too.

And so, Caoilfhionn Rose’s collage of differing influences and inspirations, players and processes, cohered into a miraculous and quietly powerful body of work, which stands as a testament to artistic adventure, to both improvisation and hard work, to trusting our connection to nature, other people and music itself. As such, ‘Constellation’ surely deserves to put her on a much bigger stage by the year’s end.

Fresh from selling out shows in his hometown of Berlin and sharing stages with acts like Black Sea Dahu and Steph Strings, all signs point to a meteoric rise for singer/songwriter Tal Arditi in 2025. A musical prodigy who completed his jazz studies at just 18, Tal swiftly made a name for himself on European stages, captivating festival-goers and club audiences alike.

His music is a masterful blend of folk, acoustic, indie, world, and electronic elements, drawing inspiration from artists such as James Blake, Patrick Watson, Beck, and Nick Drake, and earning comparisons to icons like José González and Woodkid. Tal’s unique voice infuses his melodies with deep emotion, shaped by his fears, passions, and hopes. His stripped, evocative lyrics candidly explore personal struggles, obsessions, and dreams.

Arriving in Berlin after graduating from jazz school, Tal quickly turned heads in the European jazz scene, securing performances in renowned clubs and festivals. When the pandemic hit, 21-year-old Tal found himself without a stage. Undeterred, he turned inward and wrote confessional music, spending two weeks locked in his room and emerging with a completely new sound. His early work was soon signed to the Swiss indie label Mouthwatering Records. The lead single from his EP, You and I, was highlighted by Spotify’s New Music Friday playlists in Germany and Switzerland.

In his live performances, Tal uses looping techniques to layer his voice and guitar with electronic elements, creating immersive soundscapes that resonate deeply with audiences. Currently on tour celebrating his latest EP, Close Your Eyes, released via Mouthwatering Records, Tal continues to evolve, with new music slated for 2024 and 2025 as he works on his upcoming album.

The Bug Club im Mai auf Tour in Deutschland

Die walisische Band The Bug Club hat es weit gebracht, seit sie 2016 in der kleinen Stadt Caldicot in Monmouthshire gegründet wurde. Was als lockere Schulfreundschaft zwischen Sam Willmett und Tilly Harris begann, entwickelte sich bald zu einem ambitionierten Musikprojekt. Die beiden trafen sich im zarten Alter von 14 Jahren, fanden durch ihre gemeinsame Liebe zur Musik zusammen und legten den Grundstein für eine Band, deren Sound heute ebenso markant wie unkonventionell ist. Der Name „The Bug Club“ – eine augenzwinkernde Hommage an Ross Willmetts Kindheitsfreundeskreis, der Käfer sammelte – ein Detail, das ebenso kurios wie charmant wirkt. Die frühen Jahre der Band waren von Blues geprägt. Gemeinsam mit Sams Bruder Ross und einer wechselnden Besetzung, darunter Ed Hayes am Bass und Dan Matthew am Schlagzeug, erspielten sich The Bug Club ihre ersten Fans. Konzerte auf kleinen Bühnen in Wales, darunter als Vorband von Status Quo im historischen Caldicot Castle, bildeten den Auftakt einer musikalischen Reise, die bald neue Wege einschlug. Mit ihrer Debütsingle „We Don’t Need Room For Loving“ und der ersten EP „Launching Moondream One“ im Jahr 2021 machten sie ihren Wandel zum Indie-Rock perfekt. Der Sound? Roh, energiegeladen, geprägt von einer Chemie, die zwischen den Bandmitgliedern förmlich spürbar ist. Von da an ging es steil bergauf. Die zweite EP „Pure Particles“ und das gefeierte Debütalbum „Green Dream in F#“ im Jahr 2022 brachten der Band zunehmend Aufmerksamkeit. 25-year-old Cincinnati native Jack Kays is celebrated for his raw, emotive vocals and introspective songwriting. Beginning his musical journey at just three years old with the drums, Jack has since developed into a multi-instrumentalist blending his punk, folk, alternative and hip-hop influences into his music. His 2021 debut EP MIXED EMOTIONS, and the collaborative EP MY FAVORITE NIGHTMARES with Travis Barker showcased his exploration of themes like mental health, isolation, and addiction. Jack released his latest single “Tether” off Disc 2 of his debut album DEADBEAT, which will be released in Fall 2024. Disc 1 of the album was released August 23 and featured hit songs such as “The Rug”, “Blow It“ and “Caffeine”.

Wir schreiben das Jahr 2022, und am Vorabend ihrer allerersten US-Tournee und in dem Bestreben, ihre herausragenden Alben „Machine“ (2020) und „Hunger“ (2022) erstmals zu promoten, sind THEN COMES SILENCE plötzlich und unerwartet auf drei Mitglieder reduziert. Würde ihre berühmte Darkwave-Soundwand auch mit nur drei Bandmitgliedern funktionieren? Die Antwort war durchschlagend positiv, so sehr, dass die Band beschloss, mit der abgespeckten Besetzung auf weiteren US-Tourneen (im Vorprogramm von Vision Video und The Bellwether Syndicate) und Europatourneen sowie jetzt bei ihrer Rückkehr ins Studio dauerhaft weiterzumachen. Diese ungewollte Metamorphose der Band hat zu einer anderen Art und Weise geführt, Musik zu machen und live aufzutreten.

Um das Herz und die Essenz der Live-Qualitäten des Trios einzufangen, wurde „Trickery“ in nur drei Tagen im Kapsylen Studio in Stockholm aufgenommen. Jonas Fransson (seit 2015 in der Band) sorgt für einen energiegeladenen Punk-Backbeat und Sleaze-Punk-Fan Hugo Zombie (ein Neuzugang von 2018) für einfallsreiche und rhythmische Gitarrenlinien. Das Hauptaugenmerk liegt jedoch auf Sänger und Bassist Alex Svenson, dem einzigen überlebenden Mitglied des Debütalbums von 2012, dessen samtiger Gesang und solide Basslinien auf „Trickery“ durch Retro-Synthie-Sounds ergänzt werden, die an sein jüngstes Solo-Futurist-Wave-Projekt Neonpocalypse erinnern. „Die elektronischen Elemente sind essentiell für ‚Trickery’“, sagt Alex, aber sie sind auch eine Hommage an die Punkmusik, die Wiege von THEN COMES SILENCE und die Wiege des Post-Punk.

Vraell (real name Alessio Scozzaro) makes music in the quietness of spring and summertime dusk. For that one hour of cerulean sky, the London-based musician’s ideas come to life, illuminated by the poignancy of evening as it turns to night. He wrote much of his forthcoming debut album “Once a Blue Hour” during these bewitching moments, filling the silence with music that delves into the darkness and beauty of healing. With his deft guitar skill at the center, Once a Blue Hour paints an intimate picture of letting stillness birth something new.

”Once a Blue Hour” builds on Scozzaro’s genre-blending ethos, mixing ambient electronics, beats, and his agile guitar technique to trace a trajectory through his personal growth. He wrote the album while working through his own inner turmoil, connecting to his Sicilian heritage, and seeking to get to know himself in a deeper manner. The music reflects that sense of solitude and wistfulness, building around looping, simple guitar melodies that interweave poetic phrases and laid back rhythms. Much of this music feels like a person in the process of coming to an understanding, using his instruments as a path forward through the twists and turns of life.

Guitar has always been central to Vraell’s music, and “Once a Blue Hour” highlights its presence and his deep understanding of the instrument. He began playing as a child, studying classical music, and later went to conservatory. But after beginning to busk, he discovered his passion for experimenting on the instrument. That led him to begin writing his own works that infuse the sensibility of ‘10s indie folk, like Sufjan Stevens and Bon Iver’s “For Emma, Forever Ago”, into his picking style, while simultaneously drawing on the rich sound of composers like Olafur Arnolds, Max Richter and Portico Quartet and Szun Waves’ Jack Wyllie. His chops often peek through on “Once a Blue Hour”, coloring in his lush arrangements with a pointillistic attention to detail. Tracks like “Fever Call” emphasize this patterning, blending a dark, oscillating guitar melody with breathy falsetto, while “Ladybird” similarly builds from a tingling loop, only this time adds rich strings around it, creating a pillowy resonance that echoes with optimism.

Throughout, Scozzaro blends his eye for heart-wrenching songwriting with his guitar technique, crafting gently layered songs that bleed out from the center. Tracks like the earworm “Watercolour Blush” mix a rippling beat with feathery vocals and ambient meditations. In the middle is Scozzaro’s guitar, guiding a light forward through the murkiness. “Rib:Cage” echoes and calls back to this style, blending the album’s sweetest plucking with wispy high pitches. Scozzaro’s guitar bubbles like water under ice, as his vocals soar above, looking outward. In these songs, Scozzaro shows how his guitar — informed by the tenets of classical and indie alike — is the flexible core of his music, a tool to constantly and continuously explore.

At its heart, “Once a Blue Hour” celebrates the guitar’s malleability. Scozzaro sees the instrument as something that can hold the universe within it. In his music, he seeks to show this — its guts and glory, its gentleness and darkness, the way it takes the color blue and unravels all its insides. “Guitar has endless possibilities,” Scozzaro says. “I love figuring it out.”

Die Folk-Apella-Supergruppe The Wellermen kündigt Deutschland-Termine für Mai 2025 an

Die Bassgesangs-Folkgruppe The Wellermen, die während des viralen Sea Shanty Trends Anfang 2021 entdeckt wurde, geht auf ihre Northern Sky UK & EU Tour und wird im Mai 2025 drei Konzerte in Deutschland geben.

Die vier Mitglieder der Wellermen – Bobby Waters und Luke Taylor aus den USA sowie Jonny Stewart und Sam Pope aus dem Vereinigten Königreich – hatten ursprünglich nur einmal persönlich miteinander zu tun, bevor sie durch das gemeinsame Duett eines scheinbar harmlosen Sea Shanty-Songs („Wellerman“) auf TikTok berühmt wurden. Seitdem hat das Video über 100 Millionen Aufrufe auf verschiedenen Plattformen weltweit erreicht. Die Wellermen traten daraufhin bei hochkarätigen Veranstaltungen und TV-Shows wie den Brit Awards, Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Take Away, Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, The Colbert Show und ABC News Australia auf.
Mit ihrer plötzlichen viralen Bekanntheit setzten sich The Wellermen für einen guten Zweck ein und spendeten die Erlöse aus dem Song Wellerman an die Marine Conservation Society, um den Ozeanen etwas zurückzugeben.

The Delines will make a welcome return to the UK in support of their 4th album, to be released February 2025, featuring a show at the Union Chapel, a venue they’ve previously sold out twice.

The Delines formed from the ashes of Richmond Fontaine: RF lead singer/songwriter Willy VlauKn, drummer Sean Oldham, and bassist Freddy Trujillo joined forces with the magnificent singer Amy Boone and Cory Gray on keys and trumpet.
